Lloydminster, AB/SK – The City of Lloydminster presented its Draft 2027 Operating and Capital Budget to the Governance and Priorities Committee on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, outlining proposed investments in municipal services, infrastructure, and community facilities for the coming year.
The draft includes a $126 million Operating Budget to support day-to-day municipal services, including public safety, road maintenance, and recreation, and a $30.5 million Capital Budget focused on maintaining and improving municipal infrastructure.
Proposed capital investments include road improvements, water and wastewater infrastructure upgrades, facility improvements, and equipment replacements.
The proposed budget also includes a 3.75 per cent municipal tax-rate increase and an adjustment to the infrastructure tax rate from one per cent to 1.5 per cent.
For a residential property assessed at $350,000, the estimated combined impact would be approximately $120 annually, or $10 per month, assuming the property’s assessed value remains unchanged.
Next steps
The budget remains in draft form following Council’s initial review and discussion at the November 4 Governance and Priorities Committee meeting.
A second draft is expected to come before City Council later in November for further consideration and potential approval, with the meeting date to be confirmed. Proposed figures and projects may change before the budget is finalized.
